Stranger Things is a thrilling horror, drama, and Sci-fi show written and produced by Matt and Ross Duffer known as The Duffer Brothers. The show is popular among teenagers and adults with a fanbase of more than a few million! The show has released 3 seasons and guess what? They’re coming back with a brand-new season which will release on Netflix in 2022. The cast members will be the same and a few new characters will be introduced in season 4. However, the shooting was delayed due to the pandemic and this made the fans create new crazy theories of the twists in Season 4. Let’s analyze them!
Hopper is Alive! in Stranger Things Season 4
Cheer up Hopper fans! The Duffer Brothers have confirmed that hopper will be back in Season 4 however there are various theories on how he survived the blast in the last part of ST3. If you look closely, you’ll see just before Joyce closed the gate, they showed Hopper wasn’t standing there while the machine exploded. He might have jumped through the crack into the upside-down. He was wearing a Russian suit too so he might have been mistaken for a Russian and gotten saved by them. That’s how he landed in Russia in the trailer of ST4.
Eleven could gain her powers back
Eleven lost her powers because of the piece of the Mind Flayer that was within her after she got bit. It sucked her powers and made her weak. However, she could regain her powers if her dad Dr. Brenner is alive. The way he trained his daughter for several years could be repeated in the show making her attain her psychokinetic and telepathic abilities. Eleven’s sister Eight could also help her with that.
“Not the American” in Stranger Things
In the last scene of ST3 the Russians say “Not the American” which indicates that they might be talking about either Hopper, Billy, Dr. Brenner, or a whole new character. This scene invokes the viewers to think hard. We all know the rule is if a person’s death is not shown, it should not be assumed so there are slighter chances for Billy to return. However, Billy (Dacre Montgomery) posted a picture on Twitter with blood on his shirt teasing the audience that he might be shooting for ST4.
Dr. Brenner might be creating a “Twelve” near Chernobyl
Yes! That is a big possibility. According to various theories, Dr. Brenner might be using the same testing techniques that crafted Eleven and her siblings’ special powers to create even more powerful people for the Russians. While traveling to Russia to save Hopper, eleven would hear of Brenner’s “Experiment Twelve” at Chernobyl and leave to find him. Eleven would then battle the Russian “Twelve,” where their telekinetic fight could cause the disastrous nuclear explosion.
Time Travel could come in handy in ST4
The Duffer Brothers have hinted at time travel which could be useful in ST4 and could explain the re-appearing of many characters such as Hopper and Dr. Brenner or Billy. Several teasers and promos suggest this theory. The season four announcement teaser featured a clock. The Brenner promo featured a flashback. And now Stranger Things 4‘s newest trailer features both. Stranger Things 3 also had many references from Back to The Future, a famous time travel movie, such as a poster at the local cinema, the Scoops Troop (Steve, Robin, Dustin, and Erica) hiding out in a screening of the movie, and a big part of the final battle taking place in a mall parking lot. ST3 was also set in 1985 when the movie was released.
