After watching Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, we can’t help but feel that director Anees Bazmee left out something very important that could have connected the both movies. But sadly, the director has himself confirmed that Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is not a sequel but a reboot. Although the entire plot of the movie felt somewhat disjointed, the marvelous acting of Kartik Aaryan, the dazzling chemistry of Kiara Advani, and the old-world charm of Tabu, brought everything together. Nevertheless, we still feel that something was missing…Oh yes! It was Akshay Kumar!

Where was Akshay Kumar in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2?

Director Anees Bazmee has confirmed in a recent interview that “Akshay Kumar is now too big for these little movies”. In fact, with most of the Indian audiences now accustomed to Hollywood franchises brining back original actors in franchise sequels, we too were expecting at least a cameo from Akshay Kumar. However, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is a horror-comedy, and not a psychological thriller-cum-comedy like its predecessor.

So What’s the connection between the two?

As you may have already understood, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has no connection whatsoever with the original movie that starred Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan. However, there are several scenes and dialogues in this movie that serve as easter eggs for the original movie. You will find the character of Chhote Pandit played by the extremely talented Rajpal Yadav the second common link between the two movies. The first common link, as you all may have guessed by now, is the ghastly character of Manjulika. Moreover, it was surprising to see the way the writers have completely altered the origin story of Manjulika from the first movie. But knowing that this is an entirely different movie, this was expected. But this sure does leave the audience confused about why to use only some of the same characters from the first movie and that too by re-writing their stories? As mentioned earlier, it may just be a click-bait!

What’s the story of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2?

With an IMDB rating of 7.4//10, it is no surprise that despite these major unsolved queries of audiences, the songs, new plot, and an even more fascinating plot twist, make this movie worth watching. Before we reveal some of the must-watch scenes of this movie, here’s a peek at an amazing rendition of the infamous “Ami Je Tomar” song by Arijit Singh.

Did you know that this song is performed by Kartik Aaryan in the movie after being possessed by Manjulika? Yes! This time we see Manjulika possess both Kiara Advani and Kartik Aaryan! If that is something that interests you, then you would be even more surprised to know that Tabu has a double role in this movie.

Takeaway?

If you remember being spooked by Vidya Balan’s Manjulika in the first movie, then you would definitely enjoy being spooked by Tabu’s Manjulika as an adult. Oops? Did we give away too much? Well, you’ll only know if you watch the movie. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is available in theatres across the country now. We urge you to go and watch it. But if you wish to wait for it to be available on OTT platforms, then guess which other most awaited show will soon start streaming on OTT platforms? Yes, that’s right, Marvel’s Ms. Marvel series is set to be released just in a few days, so stay tuned here for any theories and reviews of that as well.
