Death of Sonali Phogat
On 22 August, Sonali Phogat complained about some uneasiness and distress, for which she was admitted to the hospital. However, she was checked up by the doctors and discharged the same day. Unfortunately her heart distress was not detected. On 23 August 2022, she collapsed suddenly while in Goa. The doctors suspect that it was most likely due to a heart attack. However, the police have different ideas. Especially after the suspected murder of her husband and BJP politician Sanjay Phogat. Sanjay Phogat was found dead in a farmhouse in Haryana. The suspected cause of death was poisoning and police had claimed there was a suicide note, which was never released publicly. We think that the death of her beloved husband weighed down on her physically and mentally, causing her to collapse.
However, Sonali’s brother Rinku Singh, has different views. According to Rinku, his sister’s death was a pre-planned murder. The chief suspects, according to him, included Sonali’s personal assistant. In fact, Sonali’s family is not satisfied with the postmortem reports of Goa Police and demands a second postmortem from AIIMS Delhi. Moreover, Rinku Singh, in an open statement has also demanded for a CBI probe into the alleged “murder” of his sister, and everyone’s beloved Sonali Phogat.

Sonali Phogat joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2006. She soon became an active BJP leader. Recently, she was announced as the All India Vice President of the BJP Mahila Morcha. This was because of her proactive advocacy of women’s rights and women empowerment in the state of Haryana. Moreover, she had also contested the Haryana Assembly Elections from Adampur in 2019. She was awarded the ticket to contest because of her prominent work in Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh. She advocated women empowerment in the tribal communities of these regions and gained recognition due to this.
