NorthEast United FC – Team

The ongoing season of the ISL has seen NorthEast United struggle to assert its dominance in the league. NEUFC currently sits 10th in the table but the ranking doesn’t justify the talent of the squad. The franchise owned by John Abraham has been consistently performing well in the ISL but hasn’t won the league yet. Led by Hernan Santana, under the guidance of coach Khalid Jamil, the side boasts talent in every position. The squad has a mix of young talent guided by the veterans of Indian football. Subhasish Roy Chowdhury protects the goal with a defensive line consisting of both young and experienced players. The whole team has a mix of Indian and foreign players with the captain leading through the middle. Deshorn Brown has been their top scorer in the league with 6 goals from 7 appearances. NorthEast United’s bench also looks impressive but sadly the side hasn’t managed to deliver.

Can NorthEast FC Win ISL 2022?

The chances of NorthEast United Fc look slim as they have managed to win 2 out of their 14 games. The side has been underwhelming this season after making it to the playoffs last year. NorthEast United hasn’t won since they defeated East Bengal on Matchweek 7. The Islanders are 10 points off the top of the league and the chances look very slim. It would take a herculean performance from NorthEast United FC to at least reach the playoffs.

Top Contenders for the Title

As the season heads towards the latter stages, the competition has become intense. The tournament looks crunch as only 3 points separate the top 7. Hyderabad currently sits at the top of the table with 20 points followed by Kerala Blasters and Jamshedpur. Hyderabad and Kerala Blasters have equal points but Kerala Blasters have a game in hand which can prove vital. Jamshedpur has also played 11 games are at 19 points, keeping them in the title race as well. Mumbai City and Chennaiyin FC also have their chance as they currently are 2 points off the top.

Who will be your pick?

The top 4 of the ISL look jam-packed and we can expect firecrackers for the rest of the season. The remaining fixtures will give us our winner of the 2021-22 season on 5th March. Who do you think will come out on top at the end of the season?
