Lovlina Borgohain is an Indian female Boxer who was honoured with the Arjuna Award at a very young age. She is the first female athlete and second woman boxer from Assam. Lovlina was the first to represent India at the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championship, in New Delhi and she won the bronze medal on 23 November 2018. Lovlina became the sixth female boxer of Assam to win the Arjuna Award.

She was from a middle-class family and faced many difficulties from an early age. But she didn’t lose hope and worked hard to play for the nation.

Career

  2. Another achievement was a silver medal at the 2nd India Open International Boxing Tournament held in Guwahati.
  3. Lovlina acquired 3rd rank in the 69 kg Welterweight category. 
  4. She recently won a bronze medal in Asian Championships in Dubai.

Family Background

Lovlina Borgohain belongs to a middle-class family. Her father, Tiken, is a small-scale businessman who struggled financially to support his family. Lovina’s mother’s name is Mamoni Borgohain. The Borgohain family has 3 daughters – 2 twins and Lovlina. Her sisters were players at the national level in kickboxing. Lovlina also started her career as a kickboxer player and got the opportunity to play at the national level.
