Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala was horrendously shot dead on 29th May, 2022. His death shocked not just Punjab but also Punjabi music enthusiasts across the nation. Based on our research, the murderer of Sidhu Moose Wala fired at him with an assault rifle for 2 minutes and 30 seconds. It is truly a ghastly act against not just a person but humanity in general. Fortunately, the Punjab Police have been able to nab some suspects. However, the prime suspect Goldy Brar (Satinder Singh) is still at large. Who was Sidhu Moose Wala?
Born as Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, he later took up the stage name of Sidhu Moose Wala. He was born in the village of Moosa (hence his stage name) on 11th June 1993 to an army personnel and his wife a village Sarpanch. He had recently gotten engaged to Amandeep Kaur and they were set to tie the knot soon. According to sources, his net worth was around INR 8 Crores just before his death. Although Sidhu Moose Wala started his career as a junior Electrical Engineer, he quickly pursued his passion for music. He debuted in the Punjabi music industry as a lyricist for the song License by Ninja. He later debuted as a duet singer with Gurlez Akhtar in the song Belong Karda. Most recently, He also starred in his first movie Teri Meri Jodi in 2019. Apart from all of these, Sidhu was also member of the Indian National Congress in Punjab, which is the key opposition party to the ruling Aam Aadmi Party government.
Details of Assassination
On the evening of 29th May, 2022, Sidhu was headed to his relatives house in Mansa district, not very far from his house. The gang of Goldy Brar came in guns blaring and stopped Sidhu’s Mahindra Thar. The gangster then proceeded to unload his AN-94 assault rifle and brutally murder Sidhu. Sidhu was riddled with 30 bullets after being fired at for 2 and half minutes continuously. What began as a leisurely Sunday evening for Sidhu, ended in a massacre, for which the whole nation mourns.
The Last Rites
It was heartwarming to see thousands of fans, family, relatives, and well-wishers attend his last rites at Moosa village. However, this was expected with a social media following in millions. The cremation took place publicly amidst the tears and wails of his loyal fan base. It was truly a disaster for the Punjabi music industry to lose such a young talent so soon. What’s more, this has not been the only passing of music legend recently. The Bollywood playback singing legend KK (Krishnakumar Kunnath) also passed away just a couple of days later at the other end of the country.
