Bandi Sanjay Kumar has recently been on the news for his arrest. Telangana Police took him into a 14 days long judicial custody for staging Jagarna Deeksha. This protest demanded the withdrawal of GO317 by the state government. Moreover, seeking justice for teachers and employees in his constituency was also on the agenda. But why did police book Sanjay along with Pedapalli Jitender, Puppala Raghu, Kachu Ravi and Marri Satish? They were booked under sections 143,188,341,333, R/W 149 IPC, Section 51(b) of DMA, Section 3 of PDPP Act. This means, they did not follow any COVID-19 protocol during their protest.
